Demand That The California Insurance Commissioner Require Insurers To Certify, Under Oath, That What They Tell Us And The DoI Is True
When you submit information to an insurance company, from an application for coverage to a claim under your policy, the company almost always requires that you swear to the truth of everything you say.
The theory behind having consumers risk perjury charges is to prevent fraud. JustHealth believes the same theory should apply to insurance companies whose temptation to cheat is literally millions of times greater than that of an individual consumer.
However, for insurance companies, when they submit information to the Department of Insurance to: 1) support rate hikes worth many, many millions of dollars; 2) support or oppose rule changes that can affect virtually everyone and result in the loss of significant consumer rights and the transfer of many, many millions of dollars from consumers to insurers; or 3) influence the outcome of complaints filed against them by anyone, there is no such requirement.
JustHealth is proposing that Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner adopt a regulation (read it here) requiring an insurance company and any other licensee to certify, under penalty of perjury, to the truth of what the licensee communicates to the Department in connection with any rate making, rule making or complaint filed by any person against a Licensee.
They don’t have anything to hide, do they?

The Kucinich amendment would grant a waiver from ERISA for states that signed into law a single payer plan, protecting state single payer health care systems from ERISA-based legal attacks. This will allow states that wish to offer real healthcare to their residents through a single-payer system the opportunity to move forward.
